With the adventure tour Garden Route and Cape Winelands, you have a 7 day tour package taking you through Cape Town, South Africa and 13 other destinations in South Africa. Garden Route and Cape Winelands is a small group tour that includes accommodation as well as an expert guide, transport and more.

We can only confirm the accommodation booked once your booking is paid in full. - Minimum age is 12 years. Children between 12 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult - Double or Twin accommodation Addon packages are priced per person sharing and require 2 persons to book at the same time for the same tour. Ensure a minimum of 2 people or pairs of 2 people are booked for twin and double bed accommodation Add ons. -Some optional activities on this tour require a moderate level of fitness - Pick-up times range from 6-8am on the first day of the tour - subject to your address and traffic route, but we will let you know a day before the tour departs what the estimated time for your pick-up area is. Please do not arrange travel or flights for the last day of the tour. We are not able to confirm an exact drop-off time back to Cape Town on the last day of the tour. -According to availability at time of booking, accommodation will be in the mentioned hotel or in one of a similar standard and star rating -It is recommended that you bring: comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sun hat, jacket for cooler evenings, towel and swimming costume -Excluded:  Meals & drinks, optional extras and excluded activities will be for your own account. Meals can be bought en route or at restaurants at night's free-time. -The exact itinerary is subject to change, and might on occasion run in reverse or different order. At the discretion of management, guides, and transport may/will be changed during the course of your tour.

Itineraries

Day 1

Cape Town – Wilderness National Park – Sedgefield

Morning pick-up from your accommodation in Cape Town CBD areas or Stellenbosch town. Jump into a two-man canoe and row gently down the river in the Wilderness National Park. Enjoy a quick swim in the Indian Ocean or walk along the white sandy shoreline of a local beach. Overnight in Sedgefield - Subject to availability and your selected rate option, choose between Afrovibe Backpackers or 3+Star Purple Heron Guest house or 4-Star Dover On Sea Guest house

Day 2

Knysna – Tsitsikamma – Jeffreys Bay

Visit the Knysna Heads viewing point. Optional bungee jumping - face your fears as you bungee from the world’s highest bungee jumping bridge. Alternatively, hike to the ±1000-year-old Big Tree in Tsitsikamma forest.Walk along forest trails in Tsitsikamma National Park. Overnight in Jeffreys Bay - at Island Vibe Backpackers or 3+Star Mandyville Guest house or 4-Star African Perfection Guest house

Day 3

Jeffreys Bay – Addo Elephant National Park – Jeffreys Bay

Get up early to explore Addo Elephant National Park in our tour bus (± 3hours). This third-largest national park in South Africa is a world of diversity with varied landscapes of fauna and flora. Home to over 500 elephants and also lions, buffalo, black rhino, hyena, a variety of antelope and in the marine section, great white sharks and southern right whales, which means that this is one of the few reserves in the world that can boast having the Big 7. You may also choose an additional optional 4x4 Addo safari with a park ranger for further game spotting. Drive back to Jeffreys bay to enjoy some beach time or for local shopping. Overnight in Jeffreys Bay - at Island Vibe Backpackers or 3+Star Mandyville Guest house or 4-Star African Perfection Guest house

Day 4

Oudtshoorn – Cango Caves

Optional waterfall ziplining - zigzag across the river gorge and experience nature from a different angle. Learn more about the world’s largest bird during an ostrich farm visit. Tour deep underground in the Cango Caves. Return to the wild for an optional late afternoon 4x4 game drive with an expert game ranger at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge, a private game reserve. Overnight in Oudtshoorn at Backpackers Paradise or 3+Star Yamkela Guest house B&B or 4-Star Buffelsdrift Lodge

Day 5

Oudtshoorn – Cape Town

Get up early for an included Elephant Bush Walk to learn about these gentle giants in a natural environment. Follow them as you meet these three orphaned elephants. Travel via Route 62, the longest wine route in the world to sample some of the best local wines. Reach Cape Town area by evening. Overnight Stellenbosch area at Banghoek Place Backpackers or 3-star Caledon Villa or 4-star Roosenwijn

Day 6

Cape Town – Winelands – Cape Agulhas

Morning pick-up in Cape Town or Stellenbosch. Discover the roads between the Cape Winelands toward the tranquil Overberg region. Experience a unique South African culture during a guided walk through the vibrant township of Kayamandi. Sample some of the best wines, pairing it with cheese and even chocolates at various wine estates in the Stellenbosch and Paarl wine region. Explore the charming streets of Franschhoek, dotted with restaurants, cafés, galleries and quaint shops. Travel to the most southern tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas – where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet. Overnight in Cape Agulhas at Cape Agulhas Backpackers or 3-star Mermaid Guest house or 4-star Ocean House.

Day 7

Cape Agulhas – Hermanus – Cape Town

The brave at heart can rise and shine to go for an optional shark cage dive with Great White sharks in the waters between Gansbaai and Dyer Island, known as “Shark Alley” OR hop aboard an optional Eco Cruise for a chance to spot some of the Marine Big Five (great white sharks, penguins, seals, dolphins and whales). You can also spend the morning at leisure in Hermanus – a laid-back coastal town, known around the world for it’s spectacular land-based whale watching (Jun-Nov). Be fascinated by the lovable and simply delightful penguins at Stony Point Reserve in Betty’s Bay. Take the scenic coastal route along Clarence Drive to reach Cape Town by evening.

    – Lunch will be en route with limited time & limited options to choose from.
    – Dine at famous restaurants or book meals with the overnight accommodation. Your guide can advise you and transport you to the best local restaurants each night.
    Some backpackers even have communal kitchens to prepare your own food, if you wish to buy the ingredients at towns on tour to prepare your own meals.
